Crime and Punishment

The following is a list of crimes and their typical punishments. It is meant to be as helpful to the GM as it is the players. It’s loosely based on 865 Crimes from Central Casting: Heroes of Legend with some adjustments made for the region in which the campaign will be taking place.

  • Assault and battery—1d3 years imprisonment
  • Banditry—put to death if unrepentant, otherwise 2d4 years imprisonment
  • Burglary—1d4 years imprisonment
  • Failure to pay debts or taxes—1d8 years imprisonment
  • Fraud or con—1d4 years imprisonment or 2d8 years imprisonment depending on the scale of the crime
  • Harboring criminals—pilloried, placed in the stocks for a week
  • Heresy—1d6 years imprisonment
  • Holding up a money lender—2d4 years imprisonment
  • Horse theft—1d6 years imprisonment
  • Killing livestock—1d6 years imprisonment
  • Larceny—1d3 years imprisonment
  • Livestock rustling—1d4 years imprisonment
  • Mugging—1d6 years imprisonment
  • Murder—put to death
  • Offending an influential person—1d10 years imprisonment
  • Piracy—2d8 ears imprisonment
  • Poaching—pilloried, placed in the stocks for a week
  • Racketeering—2d10 years imprisonment
  • Smuggling—1d10+5 years imprisonment
  • Spying—tortured and branded
  • Treason—drawn and quartered
  • Trespassing—1d3 years imprisonment
  • Violation of curfew—pilloried, placed in the stocks for a week
